I believe that there must be more to life than simply going through the motions day in and day out only to find at the end of my life I never truly lived. Even though I cannot change the past, I know that the decisions of the past and present can affect my future! If I realize this now, it will be easier to pursue happiness. I am the captain of my ship, and if I set my sails and forget to man the helm, the wind will blow the ship wherever it pleases. However, it is when I take charge with a firm grip of the helm that I can set my destination and arrive there. I need to stay the strong to the course and focus on the final destination rather than quick, short stops along the way. In order to be successful in my pursuit of happiness, I must not become distracted with the immediate rewards and prizes in life. I need the encouragement to focus on what I can gain years from now.
